The first of "Comet PMC Series", Comet DVIP/PMC has come.
The board is made as a PMC (PCI Mezzanine Card) standard board, and performs
IEEE1394 - Gigabit Ethernet gateway processing.
The board can run fully tested Comet IEEE1394 applications, DVIP (DVTS) and HDVIP (IEEE1394/IP),
in a pen-case size small box with IEEE1394 12V power supply.
We have presented the "Comet TCP Gateway" at
the Internet Conference 2004
held in Tsukuba, Japan, on Nov. 2004.
In the autumn camp of
WIDE Project,
we had a valuable chance to test the Comet TCP Gateway on Satellite Link
networks. It worked rather good in 500ms RTT. Thanks to the WIDE network
team, and sorry for no precise technical result!!
We have developed a prototype Comet TCP Gateway appliance for TCP
acceleration in long distance network.
A 1U 2.4GHz-Pentium-4 base PICMG Server with a Comet i-NIC-x2 board achieves
700Mbps single TCP relay performance on a 200ms-RTT (Round Trip Time) network.
We setup the gateway at
Fujitsu Laboratories America,
Maryland, US,
and
Fujitsu Laboratories,
Kawasaki, Japan, and are testing the accelerated
TCP performance daily.
